Device Groups in LiveDash® allow you to organize your TV displays and control what content plays on them. Groups make it easy to manage multiple devices and assign different playlists to different locations.
Device Groups are collections of LiveDash® TV displays that share the same playlist configuration. Instead of managing each TV individually, you can assign playlists to an entire group at once.
Common use cases:
When you first set up LiveDash®, you'll see a Default Group with a playlist named "Global". This is your starting point:
Think of the Default Group as your baseline configuration that ensures every TV always has content to display.
Each group can have multiple playlist assignments:
The Base Playlist is the primary playlist that plays on all devices in the group:
Scheduled Playlists are temporary overrides for specific times:
Example:
Each LiveDash® TV display must be assigned to a group:
When you change a group's playlist, all devices in that group will update after you deploy the changes.
Groups can automatically display dispatch calls on their screens:
By default, all groups show dispatched calls from your CAD/dispatch system when they occur.
You can configure:
This ensures incident information reaches the right screens at the right time without interrupting content on displays that don't need it.
After making changes to group assignments or playlists, you must Deploy to push updates to devices:
Important: Changes are NOT live until you deploy them. This prevents accidental updates during active incidents.
Now that you understand how device groups work, learn how to manage them:
