Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your LiveDash® account. When enabled, you'll need to enter a code from your authenticator app each time you log in, in addition to your password.
Before setting up 2FA, install an authenticator app on your phone:
- Google Authenticator (iOS / Android)
- Microsoft Authenticator (iOS / Android)
- Authy (iOS / Android / Desktop)
Any app that supports time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) will work.
- Click your avatar at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Settings
- Scroll down to the Security section
- Click Enable 2 Factor Authentication
- Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code shown on screen
- If you can't scan the QR code, enter the setup key shown below it into your authenticator app manually
- Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app into the verification field
- Click Verify & Enable
Your account is now protected with 2FA. You'll be asked for a code from your authenticator app each time you log in.
- Enter your email and password as usual
- When prompted, open your authenticator app
- Enter the current 6-digit code shown in the app
- Click Verify
Codes refresh every 30 seconds. If a code doesn't work, wait for the next one and try again.
- Go to Settings > Security
- Click Disable 2 Factor Authentication
- Enter the current 6-digit code from your authenticator app
- Click Verify & Disable
You'll need a valid code from your authenticator app to turn off 2FA. This prevents someone from disabling it without access to your phone.
- Make sure you're using the most recent code (they change every 30 seconds)
- Check that the time on your phone is set to update automatically — authenticator apps rely on accurate time
- If you recently re-enabled 2FA, make sure you're using the code from the newest entry in your app, not an old one
Contact your department administrator. They can disable 2FA on your account from the admin panel so you can log in and set it up again.
